WEDNESDAY  27th October - CHILDREN's MEET, Fronlas Isaf, Crymych

(Within a mile of Crymych Village and well signposted on the day)

Truly a Children's Meet !

A day for mums and dads, guardians, grans and granddads, whether on foot, lead rein or mounted, to hunt together with their children, on this family owned farm of the Davies family.

A gentle walk up through fields leading directly onto the  Preseli's, we are priviliged to offer this as our Children's Meet.

All the children will be able to see the Master send hounds off to find the scent - "draw", before hearing the first hound speak, letting the rest of the pack know. Then the chase begins.

Smaller children will see and hear the hounds hunt the scent, while others will be able to ride with hounds, over the varied terrain the hounds follow, in full view of everyone.

Whips for the day are Emily Hughes and Sam Forrester who have been invited to assist the Master, on the day.

Miss Hughes's, antecedents are from Northern Ireland, with family heritage in hunting going back many generations of Celts, particularly Scottish.  Already showing a natural instinct of how to hunt hounds, this may be someone to watch in the future.

Master Forrester, a natural sportsman, particularly when it comes to riding his pony in the hunting field, will be taking the role of First Whip.

Good luck and best wishes to these young huntsmen on the day.

Children will also be invited to meet the hounds, hear a demonstration of horn blowing and have a go.

The day will end with bangers and beans, with the children nominating the charity for the day's sport.

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda

During the dark, damp and frozen days of January, we will be meeting in villages that have not had a Hunt Meet for many years.

It is one of our aims to retain and re-establish areas that are viable for hunting.

We will be running one or two lines with hounds but other lines may not be hunted or run without hounds, to regain the trust of the farmers and landowners.

Consequently, cap will be reduced for these January Meets.

These meets are ideal for the first time horses or riders.

Hunting will resume on the 6th February 2010 until 25th April 2010.
